About Swan Lake

Bay Area Youth Ballet, in conjunction with the students of Bay Area Ballet Conservatory, presents Swan Lake, one of classical ballet’s most famous stories.

SYNOPIS

Odette, a young princess, is caught and transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer, Von Rothbart. Meanwhile, the Queen tells her son Prince Siegfried it is time to settle down and marry. Not happy with the pressure from the Queen, Prince Siegfried travels down to a lake to go hunting. While there, he meets an enchanting Swan princess - Odette, who along with many other swans, are under Von Rothbart’s power. Odette tells Sigfried the only way to break the spell is a vow of true love. Back at the castle, the Queen has arranged a ball with many eligible brides in attendance. But, Siegfried cannot stop thinking about the beautiful Odette he met by the lake. In a plan to trick Prince Siegfried to ward him away from returning to Odette, Von Rothbart appears at the ball with his daughter, Odile, who is disguised as Odette. The disguise works and Prince Siegfried swears his love to Odile! The trickery is revealed and Prince Siegfried is devastated. Back at the lake, Odette is lamenting over the news that Prince Sigfried vowed his love to Odile. Prince Sigfried returns and begs for Odette’s forgiveness. Von Rothbart interrupts the scene and battles with Prince Siegfried. Find out how the story ends on June 9th at 2pm at Bayside Performing Arts Center!

Featuring Professional Guest Artists Juan Carlos Magacho as Prince Siegfried and César Lino as Von Rothbart.
